Polina Anikeeva

Professor Anikeeva is Head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, an Associate Director of the Research Laboratory of Electronics, and Director of the K. Lisa Yang Brain-Body Center at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research, all at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).  Her bioelectronics group at MIT develops minimally invasive materials and devices to interface with the neurons in the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral organs. She joined the MIT faculty in 2011 following postdoctoral training at Stanford University, during which time she created devices for optical stimulation and recording from brain circuits. Her qualifications include a BS in physics from St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University (2003) and a PhD in materials science and engineering from MIT (2009).
