Justin Gooding

Professor Justin Gooding was promoted to Scientia Professor, the highest award for research performance given by the University of New South Wales (UNSW), in 2011.  He is also currently an Australian Research Council Industry Laureate Fellow. He graduated with a B.Sc. (Hons) from Melbourne University and obtained a D.Phil. from the University of Oxford, UK.  He undertook post-doctoral training at the Institute of Biotechnology, Cambridge University, UK, before returning to Australia in 1997.  He co-leads the Smart Materials and Surfaces research group which aims for nanoscale control of materials via synthesis or molecular level modification of surfaces.  Through these approaches they detect analytes, influence biological processes, catalyse reactions and establish defined biomaterials.
